The Slow Choir
Visitant · First charted Year 903
Charted
A Visitant on course through the Havenmere system. Its crossing prompted the evacuation of Havenmere's four million residents.
It did not appear on any chart until the week before the evacuation order.
Residents of Havenmere report a sound at night, like many voices holding one note. The Office has not linked the sound to the Slow Choir. As its arrival nears, some residents say the sound is no longer one note, but voices, some of them familiar.
In Year 903, the Trajectory Office's review of the charting instruments found them sound. They now chart the Slow Choir, and it remains on course. The review did not say why it was charted late.
From Havenmere it can now be seen: on the night side, a band of sky shows no stars, wider each night.
It is due to pass through the Havenmere system at the end of the evacuation countdown. The last ship, the liner Faithful Return, left Havenmere two days before its arrival.
Uncharted
- Origin: not charted
- Nature: not charted
- Reason for late detection: not given (the instrument review found no fault)
