Charted
The authority under which Lodestar Station charts the Visitants and issues the Dispatch. It publishes the charts, and orders evacuations when a Visitant's course crosses an inhabited world.
The Office states that every chart it has published has held.
It reviews all correspondence to the Dispatch before publication, and does not explain its decisions.
In Year 903, it ordered the evacuation of Havenmere and reviewed the Station's charting instruments. The review found them sound; the Office considers the matter closed. It also sought a new cartographer for the Unmarked Verge, a post whose last three holders retired early. The post has since been filled by Edda Vey.
The Office maintains that an empty place is not an uncharted one.
It named the liner Faithful Return as the last ship to leave Havenmere, and said the last ship would not wait. It left on time. It reminds residents that the evacuation order applies to everyone. As Havenmere's registers faded, it advised residents to write down the names of those close to them.
The Order of the Long Watch has written to the Office asking for the correct time. The Office has not yet replied.
